Loving our city means being a contributor, not just a consumer. It means celebrating what’s good while also owning our city’s challenges with boldness and hope. Flourishing cities are built by people who love their city this way.

For Evansville is motivated by the Christian story that Jesus is making all things new. This declaration of hope isn’t limited to individual, spiritual change - it transforms whole people and whole communities. It’s an announcement that everything wrong is being made right, and an invitation to join the movement.

We lead with listening because we value the perspectives, experiences, and efforts of other people. In doing so, we affirm the dignity and agency of every person and draw close to those we seek to serve.

Every person in our city has something valuable to contribute. Because of this, we create spaces where each person can bring their whole self to the table, and we seek to collaborate around common good, not commonalities. Without compromising our beliefs, we seek to do more good together than we can on our own.

Followers of Jesus are united to him and therefore united to each other. Our shared union with Christ overshadows everything that could divide us, and it leads us to love one another the way Jesus loves - not just embracing each other’s strengths to get stuff done, but embracing each other’s weaknesses in order to serve each other.
