Advancing neighborhood revitalization through the Church
"Our local church (One Life West) is currently pursuing a union of ministries with Renew Church. Renew Church is serving as the lead agency in a neighborhood revitalization effort, following the Love Your Neighborhood framework provided by Community One, to bring Jesus' ministry to marginalized neighbors to the Lamasco neighborhood on the Westside.
So far, we've seen the restart of the neighborhood association, a serve day with neighbors, and the launch of neighborhood action projects (direct investments to neighbors for them to be the change they hope to see). Possibly the biggest win so far though has been the reorientation of the congregations towards the embodiment of Jesus to transform our understanding of 'outreach' to look more like Jesus--wholistic, restorative, activating."
